Reflecting on Your Decisions

One of the best quotes I heard today was,

FAILING TO MAKE A DECISION, IS STILL A DECISION

Let that sink in.

I have decided to change one habit that has proven to be over and over again, the hardest.

I now get up at 5 am every morning, at least 6 days a week.

It is hard every morning, but I still 5-4-3-2-1, get OUT of BED.  This is my reference to the admirable, Mel Robbins.

I did not decide to get out of bed because of the 5 Second Rule, but because, I heard that champions have a winning morning routine, and I wanted to become a champion, and it needed to start with how I get out of bed.

It sounds simple, just wake up early.

It is not easy.  Simple, but not easy.

One of the biggest reasons we decided as a family to get up at 5 am, was because none of us liked working out during the day.  So, to get healthier, we need to work out in the morning, therefore, to fit in a workout, we need to get up earlier.

Our decision to get up later has indirectly given us the “excuse” not to work out and therefore add pounds to the midsection.  Our mini decisions throughout the day have affected our health.  Something as small as deciding to get up a couple of hours earlier is slowly disaffecting our health.  Something as small as deciding to go to bed earlier is affecting our decision to get up earlier, which is again, disaffecting our health.

While others have decided that they would rather work out during the day, we have already decided that working out during the day does not work for us, because we don’t have the time.  So, what has this particular reflection of our habits resulted in: we have made the decision to work out during a part of the day when we can carve the time.  And it means we change our sleep time.

Truly the hardest part of the morning routine was not working out, it was the getting up part.  It still is.

Wait, did I say that already?

I will say it again.  It is the hardest part when that alarm goes off, and you have a split second to make an excuse and keep sleeping OR to just get up, which will set up your LIFE as you know it, seconds that make a lifetime difference.

I make the decision in that millisecond that sits conveniently between the time that the alarm is going off and the time of getting my body out of bed, to just get up before I can even make the excuse.

What needs to change in your life to make you happier and healthier?

That answer is also just one decision away.
