Leadership is not about improving...It's about remembering

Have you ever read “The Leader Who Had No Title” by Robin Sharma? This book was just so good that it was hard to put the book down!
I realized the new love of reading, and I started to realize that I was reading book after book. Getting inspiration every day, I was starting to overwhelm myself with so much knowledge.
I had to come back to why I started reading in the first place. I want to teach. I want to inspire. I want to pass on what I learn, so it may create change. I want to shout out my mentor, Adam Dawe because he is one of the biggest reasons why I'm connecting with my inner leadership more in this coming year.
“Self-leadership isn't about improving because there's really nothing wrong with you. It is more about remembering your inner leader and then making your relationship with it stronger each day. Self-leadership has so much to do with simply reconnecting to the person, you once were, to your true nature.”
And it goes on to talk about when we were little kids and when we were young, society taught us how to deny our dreams until a lot later, right?
Think about all the things that you dreamed about as a kid. Think about the things you wanted.
I wanted to be on stage. I wanted to dance and sing. I wanted to be…
I wanted to be of significance.
And as years went by, I realized that judgment was holding me back.
I stopped dancing and stop singing.
I mean, I still definitely still dance, and I still sing. But I did not pursue a life in the spotlight. Suddenly, I just started growing up, and society was telling me that I was not good enough.
And then later in life, I just lost that passion.
When was the last time you felt 100% fulfilled in the kind of work you're doing? When was the last time you felt like you were making a difference to not just your family and whoever it is that you're supporting, but to the people that you affect every day, right?
You may not even be in front of customers per se every day, but you have coworkers, right? When was the last time your line of work made you feel good about yourself? What makes you feel like you're contributing? Our paycheck pays the bills, I get it, we have got to pay for the bills. But what is feeding the soul? It is not my bills, not the money. The money's paying the bills, but what is feeding my soul at the end of the day?
You got to feed your soul. When you know that you brought happiness to others, doesn’t that make you happy? How about making others smile? What made you happy as a kid?
I would urge you to think about what it is that makes you completely happy and fill your cup every day. Find yourself a way to live that every day. And if your work is not giving you any of that, and literally is just a paycheck, I would encourage you to look for something else.
Be significant.
