When was the last time that you were acknowledged for a job well done?

Do you feel slighted because you don’t often get recognized or praised for your hard work?

Why do people want to feel appreciated?  Why do we need to feel like we are contributing?

Of course, it feels great!  We want to know that we are contributing something to someone, and we want to know it was worth the effort.

I suppose it is written in our history, especially as kids, we want the accolades of doing what was good.  We want to be cheered on, from an early age, when we are doing something right.

And that trickles down to when we are adults.  We want our bosses to recognize our hard work, and the effort we put forth into something we did well.  Sometimes, we just want to be recognized when we put any effort.

Now I want to ask you another question.

When was the last time that you praised someone else for a job well done?  When did you outwardly appreciate someone for something that they did that was a job well done?

And if you answered that you do not quite remember, then I would urge you to ask yourself why not?  You know it feels great to get the praise, but if you yourself has not made the effort for someone else in a long time, then ask yourself why?

When you acknowledge somebody else for a job well done, or something great that they've done, it feels good for you as well. It feels good for them. And it feels good for you.

It is almost like it's bouncing back at you. Right?

And interestingly enough, you might even find that when you take the time to make someone else feel good, they will probably go on to the rest of their day feeling good, even more inspired to make others in their path feel good.  They are more likely to pay it forward.

We can only control what we do, we cannot control what others do.

We all have the potential to change lives, in even the smallest way.

It all begins with you.
